AMI BIOS Flash SOP for Palit M/B

Notice

  1. To flash BIOS, use the flash program attached in motherboard Driver Disk, if there is no flash program available in the disk, then apply the most updated one.
  2. When flashing BIOS, DO NOT reboot your computer or turn off the power!

Procedures under DOS

  1. Prior to flashing BIOS, make sure the DOS boot disk is ready (storage devices as Floppy, USB Floppy, USB HDD could be used as boot disk), then copy AMI flash tools and flash file.
  2. Click DEL key to enter BIOS Setup to set device boot priority.
    • When use USB Floppy as DOS boot disk, enter “Advanced BIOS Features->Removable Device Priority”, move USB-FDD to the first row (Figure 1), then press ESC to back to Figure 2. In Figure 2, set the item ”First Boot Device” to “Removable”, then press F10 to save settings. Exit and restart the computer.
    • When use USB as DOS boot disk, enter “Advanced BIOS Features->Hard Disk Boot Priority”, move USB-HDD to the first row (Figure 3), then press ESC to return to Figure 4. In Figure 4, set the item “First Boot Device” to “USB HDD (or HDD, varies in different model)”, then press F10 to save settings. Exit and restart the computer.
    • When use Floppy or HDD as the boot disk, just remain the configuration and do not make any change.

  4. Save BIOS: enter DOS system, type-in the command “afu415 /old.rom” after the corresponding directory of the copy file, press Enter (Figure 5). Then Figure 6 pops out, save the current BIOS as old.rom, enter dir to view the old.rom, finish the saving.

  6. Flash BIOS: input the command “afu415 file.rom /p /b /n /c /x /reboot” after the corresponding directory of the copy file, then press Enter (Figure 6). In the command, file.com is the file to flash, and /p /b /n /c /x /reboot refers to the flash parameters. Press Enter, then the system begins to flash BIOS. At this time, do not turn off the power or reboot the computer!!
  7. Following above procedures, the system will reboot automatically, and then Figure 9 appears to show the BIOS is flashed successfully.
    Press F1 key to enter BIOS setup, select “Load optimized Defaults”, press Enter and select OK, then press F10 to save and exit. New BIOS is available for use NOW!

Procedures under Windows

  1. Copy AMI BIOS WinFlash tools and the flash file before flashing BIOS under Windows OS.
  2. Save BIOS: open Winflash tools, click Save button. Then input the file name, click Save (Figure 8)

  4. Flash BIOS: click Open to select desired BIOS file to flash (Figure 9). Check “v” before Do Not Check ROM ID, click Flash (Figure 10), then the system begins to flash BIOS (Figure 11). When it is finished, system will reboot automatically.

  6. After the system restarts, Figure 14 pops out to show the BIOS is flashed successfully.
    Press F1 key to enter BIOS setup, select “Load optimized Defaults”, press Enter, select OK and press Enter again, then press F10 to save and exit. New BIOS is available for use NOW!
