AWARD BIOS Flash SOP for Palit M/B
Notice
- To flash BIOS, use the flash program attached in motherboard Driver Disk,
if there is no flash program available in the disk, then apply the most updated
one.
- When flashing BIOS, DO NOT reboot your computer or turn off the power!
Procedures under DOS
- Prior to flashing BIOS, ensure the DOS boot disk is ready (storage devices
as Floppy, USB Floppy, USB HDD could be used as boot disk), then copy flash tools
and flash file.
- Click DEL key to enter BIOS Setup to set device
boot priority.
- When use USB Floppy as DOS boot disk, enter “Advanced
BIOS Features->Removable Device Priority”, move USB-FDD to the first
row (Figure 1), then press ESC to back to Figure
2. In Figure 2, set the item ”First Boot Device”
to “Removable”, then press
F10 to save settings. Exit and restart the computer.
- When use USB as DOS boot disk, enter “Advanced BIOS
Features->Hard Disk Boot Priority”, move USB-HDD to the first row (Figure
3), then press ESC to return to Figure 4. In Figure
4, set the item “First Boot Device” to “Hard
Disk”, then press F10 to save settings. Exit
and restart the computer.
- When use Floppy to boot, just follow Figure 2 to make the setup; when use
HDD to boot, follow Figure 4.

- Save BIOS: enter DOS system, type in the command “awdflash
/pn/sy old.bin” after the corresponding directory of the
copy file, press Enter (Figure 5). Then Figure 6 pops out, save the current BIOS
as old.bin, enter dir to view the old.bin, finish the saving.

- Flash BIOS: type the command “awdflash file.bin
/cc/py/sn/r” after the corresponding directory of the copy file, press
Enter (Figure 7). In the command, file.bin is the file to flash, and /cc/py/sn/r
refers to the flash parameters. Press Enter, then the system begins to flash BIOS,
as shown in Figure 8. At this time, do not turn off the power or reboot the computer!!

- Following above procedures, the system will reboot automatically, and then
Figure 9 appears to show the BIOS is flashed successfully.
Press DEL key to enter BIOS setup, select “Load
optimized Defaults”, press Enter and select Y, then press F10 to save and
exit. New BIOS is available for use NOW!

Procedures under Windows
- Copy AWARD BIOS WinFlash tools and the flash file before flashing BIOS under
Windows OS.
- Save BIOS: open Winflash tools, check “v” before
Update Option and Clear COMS
(Figure 10), Click ”File--Save Old BIOS--Save--Yes--Backup”
to save the original BIOS (Figure 11).

- Flash BIOS: Click “File-Update BIOS-Open” to
select the desired BIOS file that needs to be flashed. Click “Update”
to begin flashing BIOS (Figure 12&13). After the flashing is completed, the
system will remind you whether to reboot, click Yes.

- After the system restarts, Figure 14 pops out to show the BIOS is flashed
successfully.
Press DEL key to enter BIOS setup, select “Load optimized Defaults”, press Enter
and select Y, then press F10 to save and exit. New BIOS is available for use NOW!
