Graphics Card
Motherboard
What if my
system hangs or I get a blank screen?
- Make sure your VGA card is properly inserted into the slot. Gently press the
card into the slot.
- Check if the monitor output connector is securely connected with VGA connector
- Clean the golden fingers of VGA card with an eraser and plug it back to the
slot again.
All AGP graphics adapters
used on Non-Intel AGP Chipset motherboards.
When using an AGP/VGA with non-Intel chipset system, please make sure that
the latest version of the M/B chipset manufacturer’s AGP Drivers for Windows 95/98
has been installed. You need to install the AGP driver to utilize the AGP function.
You may download an appropriate AGP driver for your system for free at the Web
sites provided below. Please follow the instructions given from M/B manufacturers’
“Readme” file for installation.

USB Supplement
for Windows 95
The Windows 95A (or OSR1) environment does not support AGP
boards. You will need to update your OS to Windows 95B or higher. If your environment
is Windows 95B or C, you have to install the microsoft Windows USB supplement.
To make sure the USB supplement is installed, please click on Start and select
Settings. Click on Control Panel and run Add/Remove Programs. The USB supplement
should be listed among the installed programs. To install the USB supplement,
please insert Windows 95 CD-ROM in your drive. If you have Windows 95B, click
on Start and select Run, and then enter d:\other\usb\usbsupp.exe. If you have
Windows 95C, enter d: \other\usb\usbsup1.exe. If you have Windows 98 or higher,
the AGP slot will work correctly without adding this patch.
What if there
can only be 16 colors?
- If you are using Windows 95, you need a USB supplement. Please upgrade your
Windows 95 to ] Windows 95B or higher.
- If you are using Windows 98, ME or 2000, please make sure you have installed
Motherboards’ latest AGP driver.
- For NT 4.0 you need SP3 or SP4 upgrade which is the requirement for running
AGP VGA. If the system did not upgrade or install properly, the following messages
will appear:
- System will ask for installing driver again but error messages will still
appear.
- Only can support 16 colors.
- System will show your driver is not ready or mismatch.
- No matter what OS you are using, if you use M/B with VIA, ALi, or SiS instead
of Intel chip, you have to install “AGP.VXD”; otherwise, your system will not
function properly. You can get a .vxd driver from M/B makers. If both USB and
.vxd driver are installed, be sure the VGA driver has also been installed correctly.
Please refer to “readme” file to install VGA driver.
- If still can only get 16 colors, please uninstall VGA driver from Add/Remove
Program and install VGA driver again
If
you want to add another VGA card in the Motherboard, how did you disable the VGA
part that is on board or integrated with your system chips?
Every Motherboard maker has different implements in setting up
the display priority of the slots. If you add a PCI VGA card on a PCI VGA based
board, there's no problem for the board to see your add-on card as the first display.
If you add on a PCI VGA card on a AGP/Super AGP VGA based board, you will need
to set up the display priority.
Some of them will implement it in the BIOS, in the item "Integrated
Peripheral", "Initial Display First", you can choose "PCI slot". However some
other makers do the setting by jumpers, you need to refer to your manual or contact
the makers for further help.
After you finish the hardware part, you can remove the onboard
VGA driver from your system. Please go to "Control Panel", "Add/Delete programs"
to remove the driver. Please ignore the exclamation mark that appears in the Device
Manager, if you have already install your second card successfully. It won't influence
your VGA display.
Why I can only
choose “800x600” or “640x480” for TV-out?
This is because the maximum resolution for TV is 800x600 for PAL
system and “640x480” for NTSC, you may need to lower the display resolution down
to 800x600 to activate the TV-out control.
How can I
get the TV-OUT function of SiS6326DVD?
SiS6326DVD supports both NTSC and PAL system. You have to select
the one which matches your TV system from the jumper on VGA. Then, connect SiS6326
with a TV by either a S or an AV video cable. Boot the system up then you will
find the tap SiS TV-OUT under Display Properties. Choose the display mode to VGA+TV
or TV Only then you can get the TV-OUT.
How can I
access the TV-out function for NVIDIA products such as M64, Pro and GeForce2 MX?
You need to connect your VGA with either S or AV video cable to
your TV. After finish hardware setting, please install NVIDIA VGA driver correctly
by following the software installation procedure. Set the display resolution to
800x600 or 640x480 then shut down the system. Power on your TV first and then
boot up your Windows system. You will get your TV-out display.
Does our VGA
cards support Linux driver?
Because all the VGA cards support VESA so you can use VESA driver
or the standard VGA driver provided by Linux to meet your needs. As for NVIDIA
chips, Linux driver is available special from NVIDIA and you can download it from
www.nvidia.com/Products/Drivers.nsf/Linux.html.
What is TwinView™?
TwinView™ is NVIDIA's innovative dual display architecture. Through
TwinView™, GeForce2 MX supports the widest range of dual display configurations
on the planet. You can connect virtually any combination of TVs, flat panels,
and monitors. GeForce2 MX with TwinView™ is the first device to support two digital
flat panel displays through dual integrated TMDS transmitters.
How to get
the function of TwinView™ from GeForce2 MX?
GeForce2 MX supports TwinVeiw™ by Two RGB monitors (with second
RAMDAC) and One RGB monitor and one TV. With GeForce2 MX’s TwinView™ architecture,
you can choose to display either by extended mode to extend windows or by clone
mode to configure each display device individually. Simply connect your VGA either
with two monitors to RGB connectors or your TV by S or AV video cable, you can
select the TwinView™ functions from “Display properties”.
Why if I
set the GeForce as the primary card in the BIOS, my secondary PCI video card is
not detected?
Check in your C:\CONFIG.SYS file to see if you are loading
EMM386.EXE. If you are, remove the line.
I have a
VIA chipset based motherboard and I can't get AGP2X or AGP4X working. Make sure
that you installed the VIA AGP driver in 'Turbo' mode - otherwise you will be
restricted to AGP1X only.
Make sure that you have the latest (leaked) reference drivers
installed.
OpenGL programs
run very slowly or crash in Windows 2000. How can I fix it?
